Just Jesus Evenings

There was a time, a few years ago, when every Christian was asking the question: ‘What would Jesus do?’. When I was planning these evenings I thought about this and came up with the following plan:

The evenings are at our house, mostly on a Sunday evening. The address is:

5 Beaufort Close, Reigate, RH2 9DG

Open doors from 6:30pm

A simple meal, homemade soup and bread, from 7pm. There will be a selection of drinks.

8pm - A reading from our Bible passage. We will then have a free ranging conversation about what the passage; What is surprising or interesting? What does this mean to us? I’m happy with any tangent or approach. It’s all allowed.

9:30pm - End the evening with prayers. Prayers can be personal or general. They can be something that has been on your heart for years or arise from the evening’s discussion.

Who can come?

Absolutely everyone is welcome. You could be a life long Christian or a complete atheist. You could be a member of a church or someone who never goes to church. You can be Gay or Straight. If there are more than about 10 people we will split up into different groups for discussion.

Do I need to sign up?

No you don’t. Just turn up on the evenings you want to come to.

What should I bring?

The main things to bring are your ideas, thoughts and opinions. If you have a favourite Bible then please do bring it but this is not necessary. Printed sheets with the passages we will be looking at will be available.

How do I know what is happening?

The best way is to be on the Just Jesus mailing list. I send out an email a few days before each meeting so you will always know what is going on. Just enter your email and name below

Our very first Just Jesus social evening! To be honest JJ evenings are pretty social anyway but we do try to be serious for an hour or so.

But this will be a chance to just come and have a chat and a drink. Rice bowl style food will be available.

So, what is the ‘Sketch’ part of the evening about? Well, I’ve been asked to do quick sketches for a church fair in November and I’d like to practice in a social setting. If you are prepared to sit for 1/2 an hour then let me know (on the night or in advance). You will be able to have the drawings once the fair is over.
